WW2 Inland M1 carbine converted to M2 configuration and registered by Charles Erb. The “1” of M1 on the receiver has been over-stamped with a “2”. And NFA registry shows “Charles Erb” in the manufacture’s block. Inland barrel has “10-44” date. Folding stock is devoid of any proofmarks. This is a registered receiver machine gun. This carbine has bayonet lug with “P” visible on barrel, 4 rivet handguard, round bolt, rotating safety, and ramp style rear peep sight. One original web sling, one crusty 15 round magazine, 2 30 round magazines and one 40 round magazine (all post WW2) are included with this lot. Receiver serial number is the only visible serial number. The M2 Carbine was fielded at the very end of World War II with most going to the Pacific Theater. After the war, many M1 Carbines were retrofitted and made into M2 carbines by the U.S. government. These guns saw service throughout the Korean and Vietnam War eras and were even supplied to other countries by the United States thereafter. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine smooth dark arsenal refinish with thinning to gray patina in places. Mechanics are fine. Wood is fine with typical dings and handling marks. Pitted poor bore. Bolt face is fine. This is a select fire machine gun. A fine outwardly appearing M2 carbine in a popular folding stock configuration which would benefit from replacing the barrel. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2019-10-164
