Very attractive Vickers Armstrong commercial machine gun which has been converted to fire 7.62 Russian ammunition. Form 2 registered by Group Industries, but this is actually a commercial Vickers as produced in the 1930’s in Great Britain with a modified extractor, feedblock and barrel so it can shoot 7.62 x 54R mm ammunition on either Russian metal link or cloth belts. Both side and top of the feedblock are so marked. Top of feed block cover marked “VA” (Vickers Armstrong). There are some Australian manufactured internals in this gun. Registered serial number matches between top of water jacket and right sideplate below feed block. There are adequate spare parts to readily convert this gun back to fire .303 British should one wish to do so. There is a .303 extractor, two brass .303 feedblocks (one is “VAC” marked original to this gun), and 4 spare .303 barrels (one is serial numbered to this gun). Other spare parts include a fusee spring, stripped and disassembled lock, one firing pin, and a sear, as well as two spanners (one with broken case extractor), packing string for barrel glands and a wooden transit chest. One brass head Australian manufactured Vickers tripod. The wonderful thing about Vickers guns is that they can be readily converted to shoot .30-06, 8 mm Mauser, or even .308 if one had the correct parts. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine with a mixture of original and refinished parts with repainted dull green water jacket and fusee cover without either having any dents, with refinished feedblock and sideplates, The backplate finish is turning a gray and light brown patina. Spare parts range from fine to one barrel being near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Tripod is extremely fine. This is a great Vickers gun to take to the range in 7.62 Russian and presents extremely well when on display. A nice gun which would be ones of the last of this model to be manufactured in Great Britain. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2019-10-202
