(Post 2000) 27" shoe lump barrels are fitted with matted quarter rib holding one standing, one folding leaf express rear sight, and front ramp with large white flip-over night bead hiding smaller gold bead. Tops of barrels are gold inlaid "MOD. PIONNIER CAL. 470. N.E." and "ERNEST DUMOULIN VOTTEM HERSTAL BELGIUM". Bottoms of barrels are stamped with post 2000 Belgian nitro proofs at 2700 BAR. A sling eye is soldered to bottom rib. Coin finished sideplated boxlock action with top tang extending over comb in H&H fashion, features non-automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), hidden cross bolt third fastener, bushed strikers, reinforcing bolsters, and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with near full coverage boldly and cleanly cut and shaded large semi relief open scrolling acanthus. On bottom of action this well done scroll surrounds Bulino scene of face on charging bull elephant ears out, trunk down, and with dust billowing from around his feet. Other scenes of the "big five" are on sideplates; a pair of male lion on left lockplate, and two large cape buffalo in tall grass on right. Engravers signature "V. Grojean" is on trigger plate. More scroll is on trigger guard bow. Serial number is on tang which extends to engraved steel trap grip cap with spare front sight in trap. Dark somewhat marbled and figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 15 - 3/4" over black Decelerator pad. Stock with low Monte Carlo comb features large right hand shadow line cheekpiece, fluted drop points, point pattern checkering at grip, and a sling eye along with a gold oval engraved "C L R" on toe line. Matching slim beavertail ejector forend with engine turned iron has Anson release. Rifle comes with high quality oak and brown leather case with plated steel corners. A rectangle on top is embossed in script "Christopher Lee Rudd". Case also has leather trimmed green canvas protective outer cover with zipper closure. Interior is lined in burgundy felt, and a burgundy leather gold embossed Dumoulin label is in lid. Bottom partitions are oak topped and case contains three rosewood handled turnscrews, round oil bottle, along with cleaning equipment. Weight: 10 lbs. 15 oz. CONDITION: Excellent showing light use, perhaps fired enough for one safari, and with a few associated light marks and scratches, mostly on buttstock. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Mechanically excellent. Case is excellent, as protected by its outer cover. Interior has some rubs and marks. A well balanced big game rifle built for a tall man. Prices for this model in 2012 started at 30,000 euros with an extra 4,000 euros for sideplates and large caliber, all before extras for engraving. MGM65.
