Affectionately referred to as a "Thumper" or "Bloop Tube" due to the distinct firing sounds, the M79 grenade launcher saw widespread use throughout Vietnam as a man-portable force multiplier. This example has the correct folding ladder sight, protected blade front sight, pivoting trigger guard, anodized aluminum tube, and wooden stocks with NOSHOC brown pad. Bottom of the receiver marked "J C MANUFACTURING CO / MPLS. MINNESOTA USA / 40MM M79 / 1744". Accompanied by an unmarked sling. CONDITION: Very fine as partially refinished. Receiver has been reparkerized with some pits underneath parkerization. Tube is very good, with some rubs on anodization, wood is very good with same bumps and bruises and one small chip at wrist. There is a small but noticeable splice on each side of the upper tang. Bore is very good with some evidence of firing and light pitting, bore face is excellent, with some finish loss. Mechanics are very good. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE. EW
