c. 1915. A mechanical marvel of its time, this 24-play cylinder phonograph was manufactured by the Multi-Phonograph Company of Grand Rapids Mich and sold by C.C.Shigley & S.H.Paxton proprietors. Not many of these multi-phonographs exist today and even fewer are working and playing as engineered. This example from the Multi-Phonograph Company is an early version playing 2-minute records as opposed to the 4-minute records of other known examples. A complete restoration was completed less than a year ago, and this multi-phonograph plays perfectly and is memorizing to watch operate. Unlike the much more upscale "lyre" Multiphone that comes to market occasionally, this more casual multi-phonograph version has a very different look with quartered oak cabinet, front beveled glass door and beveled glass side panels, and exposed top horn. You could see this on location at the local bar, honkey-tonk or corner cafe in it's day. This example retains an original decal for C.C.Shigley and S.H.Paxton, the proprietors who originally sold the phonograph. An excellent example of this very rare phonograph. Operational and with keys.
