The marquee on this machine says "Buy your telephone check here". These machines were generally located in hotel lobby's where the customer would receive a token for their nickel and then exchange the token for the use of the phone. The purpose to avoid the hotel clerk pocketing coins for phone calls. An absolutely stunning front casting on an oak wood case. In excellent original condition with minimal signs of use. Has keys. Referenced in "Silent Salesman Too" by Bill Enes, page 279.
