Very popular M3A1 “Grease Gun” as manufactured by U.S. Guide Lamp for use by the U.S. military. Four original 30 round magazines are included. Typical “Guide” on left side of magazine housing with crossed cannons and US serial number. This specimen has protective ridges around the magazine release to protect it against inadvertently releasing the magazine when the side of the gun is pressed against a surface. The M3A1 cocks via the firer using their thumb to withdraw the bolt to the rear once the ejection port cover is opened. This was a refinement of the M3 machine gun which used a lever to cock the bolt. The M3 and M3A1 Grease guns are extremely comfortable and accurate machine guns to shoot, and they are a particularly sought after machine gun by both collectors and shooters. Also included with this lot, in addition to the original barrel (marked with importer), is a Ciener manufactured silencer designed to screw right into place on the gun in lieu of the original barrel. So the owner of this lot can choose to fire the gun in its original configuration, or screw on the silencer for recreational shooting with no alteration to the gun. Electronic NFA registry indicates “GENERAL MOTORS GUIDE LAMP DIV.” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original smooth gray finish on the body of the gun with loss of finish to a pleasing gray patina on the barrel, and at the high points of the magazine well. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt is also extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. A great find for the active FFL/SOT dealer who is also a shooter, and who plans to keep a machine gun after they relinquish their license.
