One of the exciting things about the time we are living in is that some modern factory original machine guns manufactured after 1968 and imported into the United States for immediate possession by government and law enforcement, which were with these entities for a sufficient period of time, are now being reclassified as unrestricted fully transferable to individuals. This is one such gun. To see a Curio and Relic eligible “Fully Transferable” FN FAL with the markings “Gew Kal” on the left side of the receiver is remarkable. This gun was manufactured in Belgium under contract for the German Bundeswehr. The Bundeswehr insignia remains intact on this gun. It is one of the "Light Automatic Rifle" (French: Fusil Automatique Léger) guns which was marketed worldwide with great success and was adopted by NATO forces in the Cold War era. The bolt and carrier are matching numbers to the upper and lower receiver which are also matching. The right side of receiver of this gun is marked with typical FN markings as well as the NATO stock number “1005-13-100-0011” and “11/58” manufacturing month and year on the right side of the magazine well. The selector has the German “D” for the fully automatic setting. One twenty round magazine is included with this gun. Electronic NFA Registry indicates “INTERNATIONAL ARMORED GROUP” as the manufacturer. This is BATF-speak for “Interarms”, and this importer’s marking is on the left side above the serial number. PROVENANCE: Hard copy of BATF Email substantiating this gun is unrestricted, Fully Transferable. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent gray and black blued finish which has been touched up just below and to the rear of the ejection port. There is more of a matte blue finish to the action cover and gas block which is completely consistent. The finish on the magazine itself indicates this is the same magazine which was originally supplied with this gun. The wood buttstock is absolutely beautiful, and the composite forend and pistol grip are near excellent. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. The FAL rifle saw widespread military use in over 90 countries for over 3 decades. It is a highly effective full-power .308 battle rifle and is a top-quality rifle caliber machine gun of the highest order of reliability. This particular specimen is extraordinary as a factory produced G1 with its condition and being fully transferable. It will be a fine addition to any machine gun collection, as well as something for the forward-thinking investor. THIS GUN IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS UNRESTRICTED - FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE.
