This is a first model in all respects with type 1 right side selector, 24" barrel, one piece walnut stock with no nickel, for-end tip, but the serial number on frame falls into the second model range. The gun is all original as built which only leaves the conclusion that this carbine was factory built during the era of the type 2 using up left over type 1 parts. Features a post front sight, military style rear sight, single barrel band, blue finish with blued carbine steel butt plate. CONDITION: Excellent. The frame and barrel retain at least 90% factory blue with some muzzle wear, a bit of patina bleeding through and a few age freckles and handling marks. The Winchester legend on left side of frame is sharp. The butt plate retains approximately 75% blue as does the trigger guard. There are the typical light hairlines near ring and selector that are so tight, they look more like a scratch, otherwise stock is excellent with a few usual dings. There are no military acceptance stamps but right side of stock has a 32 rack stamp so was issued to some organization or police department. Bore is bright.
