Circa 1910-1922 per "Holland & Holland: 'The Royal' Gunmaker" by Dallas. Chopper lump barrels fit with a bead front sight on a stippled spearpoint ramp island relieved on sides for a sight hood, express rear sight with two leaves, one standing regulated for 50/200 yards, one folding for 300, both with silver express lines, screwed to a spearpoint quarter rib with anti-glare matting. Barrels engraved "Holland & Holland. S. New Bond Street, London." over right barrel, left with "WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS, LONDON." Underside of barrels with matching "28426" serial numbers and trademark. Flats with British Nitro proofs for a .375 Express, including Cordite proof, proved for the full 300. Hidden third fastener. Sling bow on island screwed to underside of rib. Splinter forearm with reinforced Anson release, checkered in a point pattern about a central escutcheon. Exterior iron and reinforcement about release engraved in well-cut acanthus scroll. Action flats with serial number, view proofs, and disc set strikers. Holland & Holland hand detachable sidelocks with gold line cocking indicators, engraved in near full coverage of the classic Holland & Holland Royal scroll, with vignettes for the company name. Recoil shields with bouquets of flowers, borders with rope and beadwork, and signed on the bottom "The Royal Hammerless". Early automatic, bolted stalking safety with "SAFE" in gold ahead of tab. Long top tang flows over the top of the comb and is engraved en suite. Double triggers, front checkered, protected by a long tang trigger guard, with engraving en suite, that runs to pistol grip cap. Darkly colored walnut stock built with teardrops, diamond cross section "Royal" grip, two panels of modified point pattern checkering about the wrist, beaded cheekpiece, vanity plate on toe line with initials "D.S.G.", sling bow lon stud, and a soft orange rubber recoil pad with English style covered screws. Housed in a canvas-wrapped leather tabbed case with "D.S.G." stenciled on the lid with a United Africa Company shipping label that appears to be to a destination in the United Kingdom. Interior lined in forest green with Holland & Holland trade label in lid, charge card for this gun by serial number, and accessories comprising sling, pair snapcaps, patches, Holland & Holland oil bottle, leather wallet with three brushes and a pull-through, and an empty box of .375 H&H Magnum Flanged. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels with virtually all of a top quality reblack, with some scattered handling marks and thinning to silver at muzzle. Action excellent, with flashes of case color in protected areas, such as recoil shield beads and trigger guard, balance a lovely mellow dove grey. Stocks excellent with some scattered handling marks and impressions, but free of cracks or chips. Mechanically fine, bores excellent with strong riflig. Case very goood, relined, with very good accessories. A very rare gun in the full-bore magnum chambering.
