Seldom encountered but very popular at the range Danish Madsen Model 1950 in .30-06. The Madsen design dates back to the very earliest days of the 20th century and was renown as a very reliable and lightweight machine gun. It was preferred as a weapon for mounted troops, and one can see this in publications of this era. This specimen is the refinement of the model for the mid-20th century, and although features a bipod and carrying handle, it also has a provision to be mounted on a tripod. Seven original 30 round magazines are included with this gun. Also included is a 18 - 7/8” long barrel in 8mm Mauser and a 21 - 7/8" long barrel in 6.5mm. Electronic NFA registry indicates “MADSEN” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent blue refinish over some small areas of pinprick pitting mostly where the wood furnishings meet the metal. Original black enamel paint finish on bipod, and monopod socket. Wood buttstock is extremely fine with typical dings and bruises. Bore is extremely fine with bright shiny lands, getting dark in the grooves. Bolt face is fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full auto only machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
