Very seldom found “IBM” manufactured model 1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle (B.A.R.). The IBM made BARs were issued only to U.S. Marines stationed in the Aleutian Islands after the only land invasion of the United States during World War II by the Japanese on Kiska Island June 6, 1942. Barrel is marked, “IBM” and “6-43”. Rear sight is marked as being made by “New England”, which supplied parts to other companies during WWII. Receiver marked as manufactured by I.B.M Corp. Trigger housing assembly marked “ARMASTEEL”. Features include smooth original WWII forend with no carrying handle present, 3rd pattern gas regulator, and WWII style hard composite buttstock with “flip-up” buttplate. One 20 round magazine included. The BAR was an important component of portable firepower within the American infantry squad during World War II. It was highly effective when engaging the enemy. Electronic NFA registry indicates “IBM” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent smooth arsenal gray blue refinish. Wood handguard is near excellent. Composite buttstock has some light handling mark and has the number, “3” on the left side. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. This specimen presents extremely well, and is from a manufacturer not often encountered. An icon of WWII for discerning collector.
