Marked “AL” (Army of Luxembourg) on top of the receiver and lightly marked on left side of receiver near serial number “Property Blue Island Police”. This Fabrique Nationale version of Browning Automatic Rifle is a very fine comfortable recreational machine gun. Thread protector at muzzle in lieu of detachable flash hider, adjustable gas port nut, retractable bipod attached to the gas cylinder, adjustable carrying handle on a quick-change barrel, and a lever controlled ejection port cover which opens automatically when the bolt moves either forward or to the rear, a more positive and ergonomic magazine release, a pistol grip, and a swing-out buttstock assembly which allows easier access to cleaning the receiver and dealing with any stoppages are all attractive features on this machine gun. This rifle also incorporates a flip-up buttplate and has provision for a monopod at the bottom of the buttstock. Belgian proofs on left side of the barrel on the non-matching barrel. Three position selector “M” (Fast automatic fire) at the forward position, “R” (slow automatic fire) in the center, and “S” (safety) at the rear. Original matching .30-06 barrel is included with lot as well as fifteen 20-round .30-06 magazines, and magazine well cover with plate which allow this gun to be converted back to .30-06. There is a 2nd .30-06 non-matching barrel as a spare. Currently the gun is in 8mm Mauser with a non-matching barrel, and there are two additional spare 8mm Mauser barrels with this lot along with eighteen 20-round 8mm Mauser magazines. There is yet another barrel in 7mm Mauser included with this lot as well. Other additional accessories include two buttstock assemblies, two gas cylinders, one bipod, one handgrip (for .30-06), two sets of wood fore-end pieces, a spare mainspring, charging handle, bolt, and small internal parts. Electronic NFA registry indicates “FN (HERSTAL)” as the manufacturer or the gun. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (BATF) is in the process of removing restrictions on what they call "GOVT Use Exception" previously “Pre-86 Dealer Sample” restricted machine guns. This is one such gun. This particular gun has been verified by the BATF by serial number as having had its restrictions removed and as such is now “Fully Transferable” to individuals. Manufacturer’s information such as “Imported NFA Firearm” is not being changed incidental to this process. PROVENANCE: Hard copy letter from the BATF verifying this gun is unrestricted and fully transferable. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine original black enamel finish. Buttstock, pistol grip, and forend are extremely fine with light handling marks. Bore is extremely fine with shiny lands, getting dark in the grooves. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. This no doubt will be an enjoyable platform for the shooting enthusiast with many spare parts. It looks like with a little effort this gun might well be able to be shoot in three calibers, 8mm Mauser, .30-06, and 7mm Mauser. THIS GUN IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS UNRESTRICTED - FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2025-05-068.
