This is a Bren Mark I machine gun manufactured by Enfield in 1942 as indicated by the markings on the left side of the receiver. Broad arrow proof and “42” date visible below barrel latch. Barrel is a forced match with British nitro proofs. Matching numbered receiver and barrel retention latch. Two original 30 round magazines are included with this gun. Electronic NFA registry indicates “BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS” as the manufacturer. (This can be requested correction should the buyer desire to do so). CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent smooth grey matte refinish with some spots of gray patina. Wood is extremely fine with some handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. The Bren gun is generally accepted to be one of the best light to medium machine guns of World War II and is particularly popular with collectors and recreational shooting enthusiasts.
