Manufactured in 1890. This is a second model medium frame with an octagonal barrel and full tube magazine. Plain rear stock with a rifle butt plate. Two piece front stock with checkered panels. Sporting front and rear sights. Two line barrel address and patent dates on top flat of the barrel, "COLT'S PT.F. A. MFG. CO HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED MAY 29, SEPT.18, 83 MAY 26, 85, JUNE 15, 86, FEB. 22, 87." Caliber designation on the top flat of the barrel, "38 CAL." Rampant Colt logo on the left side of the frame. Case color hammer. CONDITION: This gun has traces of the original factory applied blue finish in the protected areas. Most of the finish has turned to a pleasing plumb brown patina. There is scattered freckling all across this gun. The stocks have been cleaned and oiled. The rear stock has a chip on the right side at the top front corner. The checkering shows wear. Good bore with well defined lands and grooves. Hammer shows some case color in the protected areas.
