Maget 1944 manufactured MG-42 machine gun marked “cra” and “N.C.” with Nazi proofs on receiver. Top cover and shroud were manufactured by “bpr” (Grossfuss). Other Nazi proof marks on various parts on this gun. Maget manufactured barrel serial number does not match receiver number. Nazi marked bolt also non-matching. Accessories include three original Nazi belt segments in green World War II 1938 dated can with added “SA” indicating Finnish use, two original assault drums in carrier, one original leather gunners pouch with mitt, vintage unmarked leather sling, post-war gunners kit with oil cans, carbon cleaning tool, screwdriver, brushes, and cleaning rod. Also included is post-war 7.62mm loading machine in can, Yugoslavian manufactured Lafette mount with AA post, and near mint MG-3 groud tripod with optic in seat. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original finish thinning in some places to grey patina with scattered scratches, and little dings. Loss of finish to bare metal where charging handle rides on the receiver. Grip frame mostly grey patina. Grips and butt have some dings with reinforcement wire not present on butt with 2-1/4" crack on right side which does not affect serviceability. Sling remains serviceable but getting soft and starting to tear at swivel point. Original green paint on ammo can and drum carrier. Post-war accessories extremely fine to near excellent. Mechanics of gun are fine. Bore and bolt are near excellent as is exterior of Nazi barrel. This is a full auto only machine gun. This cataloger knew the consignor, and it is doubtful that this gun has been fired in more than 30 years. Any who are considering bidding on this gun know what a great machine gun this is to take to the range and that finding good original finish World War II guns is tough. If this cataloger was going to choose a MG-42 to add to my collection, this would be the one. A fantastic World War II iconic gun which is very impressive on the firing line. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2019-10-184
