This is an Auto Ordnance, Bridgeport manufactured gun imported by the Inter-American company with tiny marking on the bottom of the receiver forward to the mag well. This gun is a real WW2 Veteran with original “U.S. Property” marking behind the rear sight, with Thompson bullet logo forward of the sight. Typical M1A1 markings with “FJA” and “GEG” markings as well as “P” proof at top of smooth barrel. Gun includes one original G.I. 30 round magazine. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is good, with classic combat theater original finish loss to exterior metal surfaces with about 50% finish remaining otherwise thinning to gray patina and turning a pleasing brown in places. Mechanics are crisp and positive, with a very good shiny bore and fine bolt face. Wood exhibits some unmistakable wear with gouges, dings and bruises again consistent with combat theater use. In fact, everything about this gun “speaks” to this. Occasionally, clients have asked this cataloger, “How do you discern combat wear patterns?” Think about how the guns would have been carried, and cleaned under “camping out” or “field” conditions. One might not be able to keep the exterior looking nice, but the critical internal parts of the action and the quality of chamber and bore were of paramount importance. Loss of finish from constant field condition handling is different from “neglect”. There are discernable initials hand inscribed on the left side of buttstock. This is a select fire machine gun. A true piece of American combat history ready for use at the range for the Thompson enthusiast. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO CURRENT ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. NFA GUNS IN THIS CATEGORY MAY BE RETAINED PRIVATELY BY SOLE PROPRIETOR DEALER UPON THEIR RELINQUISHING THEIR LICENSES, SUBJECT TO STATE AND LOCAL RESTRICTIONS AND BATF APPROVAL. JWK 2019-10-7
