MAGNIFICENT BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN ON LOTUS STAND.

Ming Dynasty period, China. The bronze cast Guanyin is cast seated in dhyanasana on a detachable lotus base with hands in abhaya mudra. Shown wearing long and loose robe, her chest is bejewelled with elaborate beaded necklace. Her face is shown with a benevolent expression, flanked by pendulous earlobes with earrings and wearing a high tiara enclosing a small figure of Buddha. The separate bronze pedestal stand is cast with rows of lotus petals raised on column rises from an hexagonal base. The back incised with inscription reading Ming hong zhi ding si nian zao tai jian yao ju shi (respectfully made during the 10th year of Ming dynasty Hongzhi reign by servant Yao Ju). NOTE: A similar Ming Dynasty period brass Mahavairocana statue (H: 91 cm) was featured in Poly Auction, Hong Kong, on April 7th, 2014, as lot 3415 of sale HKS2814-3, at the estimate value of $770,000 to $1,060,000 USD. SIZE: 33-5/8" (85.4 cm) h x 16-1/8" (41 cm) w. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection from a renowned Taiwanese Diplomatic Family - Cai Wanjun (? - 2011), Xu Shaochang (1913–1999), and Ye Gongchao (1904 – 1981).
