Galle basket shaped Faience centerpiece has ornate body and handle with dragon heads circling down from top and meeting at middle of bowl with cartouche in between heads containing painting of ship at sail. Stylized leaf and scroll design bordering dragons. Basket is finished in dark brown glaze with cream colored trim scrolls as well as cream colored band at foot. Brown glaze is highlighted with subtle gold gilding. Signed on underside with large ornate signature covering entire underside of basket "Emile Galle Fecit Modele Depose" with center shield including initials "EG" with cross of Lorraine and griffins in flight on either side of shield.
